BCCI invites bids for two new franchises

Under this Invitation to Tender, the winning bidders in respect of two locations in India will be granted the right to own and operate a new team which will compete in the IPL in each year from and including 2011 onwards. From the 2011 IPL Season on wards it is therefore anticipated that the number of teams will increase from 8 to 10 teams. The two new IPL teams will enjoy the same opportunity (if applicable and subject to qualification) to compete in each and any CLT20 which is staged from 2011 onwards.

The Invitation to Tender contains details of how Bids may be submitted and includes details of how income from the commercialization of the various rights relating to the League will be divided, together with the various Franchisee obligations.

The Invitation to Tender can be obtained from Monday, 22nd February 2010, 10:00am onwards at the IPL office, Cricket Centre, Wankhede Stadium, D Road, Churchgate, Mumbai 400 020, Tel: +91 22 2289800, Fax: +91 22 22898801 upon payment of Rs. 5 Lakhs (500,000) (non refundable and non adjustable) by demand draft or pay order favoring The Board of Control for Cricket in India.

All bidding parties will need to fulfill the eligibility criteria and other requirements specified in the Invitation to Tender.

Bids will be opened at 12 noon (IST) on Sunday, 7th March 2010. The winning bids will be announced in the manner set out in the Invitation to Tender.

The BCCI reserves the right at its discretion to cancel or amend the entire bidding process at any stage and to reject any and all bids without providing any reason. Merely buying the Invitation to Tender does not entitle you to bid.
